Happy Birthday Llola Lane :)

Replacing hard drives is no fun so hopefully the two new additions to the family made up for that hassle.

I've not had any time to work in Daz for a while due to preparing our house for sale. Most of the main work is done and so now it is a waiting game and I do have some time off work before the end of the month so hopefully I will be able to submit something before the month ends.

Hi Sof... thanks oodles... It was a grand day.

I am slowly getting my Daz to behave... but I've had to upload a LOT of content AGAIN... Not sure WHERE all the manifest files went but they are not where they are suppose to be so I am currently reuploading about 6000 items.  Funny though.. When I open Daz they are there... but no MetaData is showing so I have to look everything up manually.  I tried working on a render and gave up... I miss my metadata... I'll have to figure out how to get it working again.

Not loaded Poser yet.. THAT will be another chore.. but first I need to reinstall Hexagon.

Soooo much to do... so little time  :)

Can't help with the other apps but with the Manifest files they are only used by DIM to specify what and where things are installed. So, if you remapped existing content libraries then you would have all the content but DIM would not necessarily know that you had.

The Metadata/SmartContent would most likely have got lost when the HD went down since, by default, the CMS get's installed to the main drive and not in any library (since it's different data). When you re-installed Daz to the fresh drive it would have created a new empty database - and again, would not know about what was already installed prior to that.

I don't know if it's possible to re-create the manifest files but you can recreate the Metadata/SmartContent from previously-installed products. If you have all your libraries correctly mapped in Daz then from the corner menu in the Smart Content tab you can go to "Content DB Maintenance". This will popup a window and here you want to tick the "Reimport Metadata" checkbox and click OK. This will scan all your mapped libraries for files within the /Runtime/Support folders and return a list of all the products that it has found. These should already be pre-ticked and so clicking OK will re-build the SmartContent CMS from those files. Feel free to go make a cup of tea at this stage since it can take a while. Once that is done your SmartContent should be returned. If you had made any custom changes/additions then those would be lost unless you happened to export that prior to the HD going down which I guess is unlikely given that it seemed to be an unscheduled replacement.

Thanks Sof... I remembered about the SmartContent but couldn't remember HOW to rebuild it.  I'm busy uploading all the 4000 (now) metadata files I'm missing.. they must have been on the old C drive... I'm not sure HOW they got there since all my content is was on my D (now E) drive.  Most of the manifest files were there except for some 6000+ ... Slow process but once it's done I can sort my SmartContent... I have over 20,000+ items in my runtime.. eep!
