Hi Gang... I'm still about... REuploading Metadata is taking for EVEEEEEEEEhhh in Daz... I let it run for 12 hours yesterday and it was only at 5percent.  (sighs)... I finally turned off the computer and went to bed.  There HAS to be an easier way.  I'm having a hard time finding my content.  It takes me longer to find stuff now then to render what I've created.  :(  Be well one and all.. hugzzzzzz

I know you've been using Daz for a lot longer than I but I don't think you'd have 700 times more than I do. For it to be 5% after 12 hours it sounds like it's hit something that has made it crash.

I can't remember if the window tells you what product it is working on but if it does you can try excluding that from the list and see if it will import the others?

Hi Sof... yeah.. I can see the content being updated.. It's moving pretty fast but with 1 of... 200ish things per item.. it's taking a looooong time. 
Frank over at Daz says I may have to check with my ISP to see what the max download I have.  I'm not even sure how to look but when I do the speed test it's really low compared to his 129mbs... :(  I'm just stuck with it til I can figure out something.  I'm so stupid when it comes to stuff like this.  (sighs)

THIS is what I'm running into... Pepper is an example... DM shows she IS installed... But when I go to Daz and look at the install pane it shows she's not... but I can manually find her if I look for her in content and she does open up.  I am lost!

Having trouble posting replies to the forum again (internal server errors) so re-writing what I tried to say in the hope that it will work.

Basically, reimporting metadata should not use the internet connection, it just reads info from the product's support file and inserts that into the CMS. You can do that with DIM via the right-click menu or via Daz Studio Content DB Maintenance.

Oh, the Install pane within Daz Studio only relates to Daz Connect - and so if you are using DIM you should just ignore that.

To fix the smart content for items that you have installed by DIM on your previous HD you can use the following steps:

• Clicking on the corner menu item in the Smart Content tab
• Clicking Content DB Maintenance
• Checking the box next to 'Re-import metadata'
• Clicking accept - Daz will then go off and look for all the dsx files it can find in the /Runtime/Support folders of all your mapped content libaries and give you a big list pre-checked.
• If you proceed from there it will re-import the metadata for all found products.

I know Stezza... I'm sooo jealous :(  ... I have a few things to try...  Gonna check hubby's laptop speed ... he's at the far end of the house... If it's about the same then we know it's a distance issue from the wireless.  According to Spectrum we are paying for 400+mbs... The wireless is about 5 years old... We HAVE to keep it.  We need it for cellphone coverage and hubby's computer at the far end of the house.  We are not sure my desktop can even be wired permanently to the cable?  We'd need a longer cord that is for sure... My computer is about 30feet away from the wireless. Plus the wall interference.. etc... He is not to happy about the prospect of paying for faster internet.  :(  We pay almost 200.00 a month as it is.  (sighs)

Happy update though... I ran the reinstall metadata command again for about 3 more hours  (for a total of about 15hours) and it's finally finding metadata for my characters.  I still have about 2000 more items to install with Dim (sighs)... NOT looking forward to having to do this all over again for new bigger hard drive :(.
