It's got to be the graphics card. I looked for one engineered to do rendering (anti-elastics, shadowing and dynamics). I use an ATI FirePro V5800 made by AMD. It was less the $100 and makes all the difference.

Yeah...you could be right...my video card is non existent lol
Wish our prices for video cards were as cheap as yours...on my other computer...that went to a horrible death...I brought a mid good video card...and that cost me over $340.

Here is a render of one of my all-time favorite places, The Village Courtyard.  It's always fun to play with lighting here and the texturing is wonderful.
That looks awesome, jammixx. It would fit the Big Picture Challenge, if it was posted there.

Courtyard with view and lighting changes.
This one looks even more interesting, and would also fit The Big Picture Challenge.
If you can do stuff like this, you still have a few days to get at least one into the Big Picture Challenge.

"Sitting in an English garden waiting for the Sun.If the sun don't come you get your tan from standing in the English rain."
I just realized there are no sunbeams or bright spots in the first image!  What a goof up.  I've been in the gloom so long it looked natural to me.

LOL... same here in Ohio... What is SUN????

Rats, I thought the Big Picture was here now since architecture is the title.  I have a plant one to post, so I should put it here maybe?

What is the pixel size of the plant one?

Here is the revised version of the Courtyard.  I changed the lighting using a light orange shader light (still wanting to keep the arches mostly white) and changing the angle of the distant light.  The orange light brought better texture appearance to all of the stone; a good trick to remember.
