You should be able to unzip in Windows 10 (or even 8).  The extension on the file might be different.  If you rename it and change the extension to zip, you should be able to just single-click on the file in File Explorer and it will show all the files inside the zip in the right panel, just like clicking on a folder shows the files in that folder.

You can also get IzArc, which is free and unzips everything, including 7-zip files (their extension is 7z).  https://www.izarc.org/

Nope.. tried that numerous times!  My windows 10 keeps asking for a file to open it up with.  Nothing pops up.  Oh well... I can make do with the templates I've got :)  thanks.

At times I need to right-click the file, my lappie has W10 too, then see the context menu for something like view or open something like that. It should open just like the main window showing the contents. Then you can make a new folder to drag/drop the contents to compress for yourself

I have the Windows 10 provided extractor, but I prefer 7Zip, which I also have. I can compress files in most of the top file compression formats, including .zip, .win, and .7z. It also easily extracts any of those formats and more. I can also choose to extract to a new folder that has the same name as the compressed file folder.

Totally agree Agent...I love 7Zip...and it's free!

FYI... finally got 7zip file opened.. thanks Sanbie... the only thing that worked was downloading https://en.softonic.com/s/7zip-latest-free-version  ... thanks Agent.

beware, I cna't remember where I read it some time ago...softonic has a tendency to insert ads and sometimes viruses.

I was told that the zip with the number 1 is in reality the update to the program but heck if I know for sure.
