The Big Picture Thread May 2024 = Battle


Welcome to the Big Picture Thread May 2024 = Battle! This challenge is all about battles of all kinds. Even games can be considered battles, because the players fight to be the winner. Choose what you wish your battle to be about, and choose how it is fought. Choose what your characters use to fight with.

In this challenge it will be required that you depict the battle in progress; no preparation for battle, and no aftermath of battle results. The battle must be happening in the image. Now the type of battle is up to you. You decide. If it is a board game, show the game in progress, maybe with one player taking HIs/Her turn. Maybe your character is fighting to get something in order. Show what the thing is, and characters working to set it right. Maybe there is a war being fought; either on a battlefield, in the air, in the water, or in space. Show the weapons and vehicles being used by both sides, shooting or striking at each other. Show the characters in combat action.


The point is that there are so many different ways to fight for something, or to achieved something. Your mission, should you choose to accepted it, is to depict the way those battles are happening. So get your strategic, military mind working and compose so epic battles for us to see and enjoy. Comments are welcome, also.


As I currently do not have a battle scene ready to upload, I'm leaving the first post to whomever is brave and strong enough to take up the mission in this challenge!

OOo I like that the Big Picture now has a theme... hum... BATTLE... I'm a pretty peace lovin' kinda gal... Hard for me to create fighting scenes but I'll try.  :)

As I said in the Leading post, there are many types of battle, like for instance the battle to get a complex task completed. Like sometimes when I am cooking, I can coordinate my work flow like a five star general. Other times, it seems everything is fighting me. Such is what I call 'Kitchen Battles'. I'm sure as a homemaker, Llola, you know about that all too well! It does not have to be a violent kind of battle; just a struggle of some type being shown. I have faith in you!

Glad you all are "thinking" about the theme. I hope to see many items pictured here and as for "battle" it might just be as simple as kids fighting over a toy or such.

Race Through the Skylands

Auve`, a world in the planetary system of a blue giant, has naturally levitated land masses. All land on this planet is floating in the air. So too are all cities on this world. It is one of several planets in the Lesser Magellanic Cloud, that were developed by the Voor. This one is considered a great vacation destination.

One exciting activity is the Dirigible Races. To win, dirigible pilots must be highly skilled at reading the wind, and knowing what will cause a desired increase in speed. Here there are just three contenders left, as about a dozen others have lost their battles with the fickle winds blowing through the floating land masses. Yes, even the most skilled pilot can have a bad day.The battle is to find and use the right winds to get your airship across the finish line. You can sign on as a crewman aboard a racing dirigible, and join in the fun.

For this image, I first made a special background image in Bryce to use in DAZ Studio behind the dirigibles. I opened DAZ Studio and loaded three differently textured versions of the same one. I positioned them to appear to be in competition with each other. I set the image aspect ratio, and my desired pixel size. Then I loaded the background I made. Using the image as my guide, I made three lights to illuminate the scene. I rendered it in 3Delight.

This image is to be included in the Challenge! I'm competing this time.
