Welcome to the December Show Off Thread 2023. Our challenge this time is Sunset to Sunrise. More about that after the following.

As always you may post all of your wonderful images in this thread. Please remember to keep your images PG, as children can and do view these threads. Also keep your images within the pixel sizes allowed, and the memory size allowed. We do accept art pieces from all types of art production methods, including all of the following and more:

  • 3D Art programs like Poser, DAZ Studio, Carrera, Bryce, Blender, Terragen, etc.
  • 2D Art programs like Paint, Project Dogwaffle Howler, Twisted Brush, Portrait Painter, Sketchbook, Spektrel Art,etc.
  • Fractal image generators, like Amberlight 2, Flame Painter, etc.
  • Photos of Real Life Painting, in which the artist uses actual paints and canvases to paint in their own art studio.
  • Photos of Sculptures, in which the artist uses any of a large variety of shaping tools to shape whatever material they like.
  • Photos of different types of hand crafted art, such as Crochet, Rug Hooking, Origami, Flower Arrangements, Garden designs, etc.
  • Drawings, either by Pencil, Color Pencil, Ball Point Pen, Quill Pen, Felt Tip Pen, etc.
All of the above and more are acceptable here. We just want to see what you like to do in your art, and be able to comment about it.

Now, as already mentioned, this month's Challenge Theme is called Sunset to Sunrise. In this challenge your participating images must be either At Sunset, After Sunset, During the Night, In the Pre-Dawn Hour, or At Sunrise. No daytime images will be considered for the Challenge Prize. Your subject can be anything you wish, but it must be during the time period of the Challenge, and we must be able to see that it is. So use your imagination to come up with some awesome ideas that fit this Challenge Theme, do your art and post it here. There is no limit on how many pieces you can submit for the challenge.
I personally think short animations might be acceptable for the challenge also, if they are not too big on memory or pixel size. To see what I mean, check out the animation SimonJM did in Terragen, and posted in The Big Picture Thread. Follow this link: https://www.pfdlives.com/pfd/index.php?topic=8579.120 scroll down to the animation and click on it to watch it. You can also download it, if you want to.

Not all images posted in this thread have to be for the Challenge Theme. If you have one you wish to post for us to see, we will gladly accept it, regardless of whether it is for the Challenge Theme, or not.

Please consider your image size, if it is a really large one. We have a thread called The Big Picture Thread that is for images that are large. If your image is at least 2000px either horizontally or vertically, consider posting it in that thread. As long as it fits the pixel and memory size requirements for that thread, it will be accepted there. If it is also an image that fits the Challenge Theme of this thread, post it here instead.

Here is my first image for this thread:

Alien Worlds - Colonial City

This is a City seen at Sunset on an Alien World, with a ship hanging in the sky above it.

That'll do me for now... Can't wait to see what you all come up with!

I whipped up some sunset scenes for a background to match the theme for this month (I think I matched the lights on the figure to match pretty closely to the back)... enjoy.
