I am proud of her. She is the longest lived pet I  have ever had, and our relationship is the most loving of them all. A dog I had as a child named Pepper is a close second, along with a black cat named Sylvester, who is tied with Pepper.

Pepper was hit by a pickup truck when she was returning home to have her second litter of puppies. She and her puppies were killed by the incident. The driver was apologizing over and over, so I told him it was not his fault. She was in labor, and the pains were distracting her.

Sylvester was a roamer, and was responsible for populating my home town with black cats, as none were there until he was brought to town by me. I went away for 2 years, and in that time the family moved across town. When I returned, I moved into that home with them, and then was left renting it alone after they moved again. One night after I  got home from shopping for groceries, I was putting them away, and heard a scratching at my kitchen window. I went to look and see what it was, and there was Sylvester! He had not forgotten me, and he took up with me like we had never been apart. When I had to move again I could  not  take him with me, but there was a family that took him in.

I know it is really late in the month. My excuses are many, but the main one is that the move has been the worst I have ever had to go through. That said, I was finally able to get a Dad image done, and it was finished before the Father's Day ended. I did not upload it yet because there were pressing matters to attend to that took me late into the wee hours of morning. Those tasks wore me out, so I just decided to get some sleep. Anyway, here is my first render for the DAD Challenge:

Dad is Proud of His Son

A young man shows honor as he follows in his Father's footsteps, taking up the same profession of working with wood. Years go by as they often get jobs working for the same companies at the same time. Dad has the ability to make jigs that speed up the cutting process, and produce parts for specially shaped cabinets. He proves himself to be invaluable to that company. At the same time, his son is making a name for himself among the customers of the company, who ask for him by name to design and build special cabinets and furniture for them. His skill at precision work is unsurpassed by any other known precision worker. His Father thinks of his son as being better at wood working than himself.
"There are all types of wood working tools that can be used to do specific types of jobs!" Dad tells a group of visitors to the facility where he and his son are starting their own wood working business. "Among these tools are a large variety of saws, each made to do certain types of cuts. My son here is proficient with all of them, and indeed can do precision work with every one. His best work though is done with a specific type of saw, and he only uses the best of that type. It is a jigsaw, and the brand he uses is the smoothest operating jigsaw in the entire world. With it my son produces works of wooden art, as in his hand that jigsaw is like a woodworker paint brush. His phenomenal skill has him designing and building pieces of wooden beauty beyond compare, and he has gained a lot of fame because he is that good! The tablesaw in front of me, and the handsaw on the table over there, as well as the radial arm saw behind my right shoulder, while essential tools in any wood shop, are not as versatile as my son's jigsaw. So today, my son has agreed to do a demonstration of what he can do with a jigsaw! Prepare to be amazed!"

This image and story is based on my Father's and my story. We did work together for a certain company, where he helped speed up the part cutting process by making special jigs to use on the tablesaw, a skill that he taught me also. I am a precision wood worker, and my best tool for doing precision work is my BOSCH Jigsaw. I can make my jigsaw do cuts that will fit odd shaped surfaces like a glove. On top of that, I am also a worker that can get the job done right the first time, by taking just a little more time to see that it is done properly. This saves any company I work for more time than I take to get it done right, because I don't have to spend time fixing things that were done wrong. How many workers do you know that can say that? For these and other reasons, my Dad was very proud of me,  telling me that I am a better wood worker than he was. But it was my Dad that inspired me to get into wood working, as like me, he believed in turning out high quality work. He never had to fix his own work, and neither have I. He taught me at an early age that a man's work is his reputation, so doing a high quality job brings great recognition, and gains more demand for your products. So I Honor my Dad during this Father's Day by doing this image to portray a similar story to our own. We did open a small backyard shed wood shop, and did lots of great work together, but it did not develop into a thriving business. He is no longer with us, having passed on about 7 or 8 years ago, but I still cherish the times we had working together, enjoying our craft, and making lots of high quality products!

Thank you Llola for the links to those products. I was able to find more on a site called Free 3D. You might wish to check it out. There's a lot of great stuff there.

One final note:
The Jigsaw in the hand of the son is from Free 3D. I imported it first into Wings3d to add material zones, and add a logo I modelled "BOSCH". That is the brand I used to help me make a name for myself. In the days I worked at the bus building company I was well known for my attention to quality and detail, and in my hands my BOSCH Jigsaw was like a 3d artist brush, with which I was able to do a lot of precision work. That old jigsaw lasted me more than a decade after I left the company, and I no longer have it. No worries, I bought a new one that is even better than my previous one. No need for changing blades with a screwdriver anymore. This new one has quick release blade changing at the push of a locking button. Push the button, the old blade is released. Then I just push a new one into its place. The new Bosch Jigsaw is still as good or better than my old Bosch, and can do some things the old one couldn't. It is my new 3d paint brush!

To all members, this thread is hungry for your images! Please post some of your renders here! I'm fearing that we will not have enough to warrant a prize award for the best Challenge image of this thread. We need more Daddy images, so please get to rendering. We will also take other renders that are not related to the challenge.

The thread is crying out "Feed Me!"
