My son, Chad,  had a Basset hound and sometimes he wears a fedora hat when he plays in a band so I made these images for him... it's a cross between the two..
A Basset Hound wearing a Fedora! Looks Awesome! The two seem to fit each other. And Pet Fashion Marches On! Excellent!
Thank you for all of those cute Cupid Babies! I knew that you'd not get any repeat images. I've been reading up on the AI Image Generators. That is basically how JSPlacement works, although you don't type in prompts. Rather you use a series of settings to generate random texture images of certain types. The biggest focus is on greebles, but the concept is the same. Using the same settings, no two images will be alike, but you can invert the greyscale images, do colorized versions, and it will save out normal maps as well. I have a better normal map maker, that makes the normal map have better depth. There's a lot more to it than that, but I suppose you could call JSPlacement an AI Image Generator. Oh by the way, the images it generates are all 8K in pixel size. I usually reduce the size before I use one, as most of my apps that can load images cannot handle 8K.

I never used computer art programs until I went to college, with MS Office PowerPoint being my first program that I used for that purpose. Before that I was drawing, painting, sculpting, and making music the old ways. For me, computer or digital art is just another of my interests in doing art. In the old days I even designed and constructed cabinets and furniture using only the traditional tools. My materials in that profession was mostly wood. I can still do all of what I just described.
My thoughts on the AI image generators, is "Let those that want to use them have their fun! There are many that cannot do what we do, composing our own images. Let them have these AI programs to generate what they want. Yes it takes imagination off the table, but knowing how big my imagination is, I see no harm in letting these apps have a place in the art world."

You're not offending Dana.  I use my imagination in all kinds of art forms from photography, painting, cross stitching, knitting, crocheting and diamond painting as well as Daz Studio and Poser.  To me AI is on a level with cross stitch patterns, diamond painting kits or such that come with the pattern all worked out for you.. you don't have to create, you just follow the pattern and voila, you have a piece of art that was imagined by someone else.  I know that AI may not be for everyone but I love to come up with an idea and see what the program comes up with... it's a great break from working on my cross stitch that I'm creating for my granddaughter's wedding gift for next year that's been taking me months and months.  It's like playing a video game and for me, it does take imagination to create something that I will like.  You can be very specific about what you want it to create and can fine tune it to the finest detail.  But for me it's not a big deal, it's just a fun pastime that's fast and I love trying to come up with original, sometimes funny images that I can giggle about like the image for my son.

Oh yes... Kathryn... never thought about that... it IS a bit like cross stitch... etc... also... for me it's like typing in a prompt and see what is 'grabbed out of the bag'... my heart skips a beat waiting in anticipation to see what the AI will come up with.  I don't imagine what it will make any more cause I'm almost always wrong... so I'm just happy with the SURPRISE it creates.

It's a personal choice... AI is fun... but I still love my Daz ;)  Just another creative outlet... Sometimes I wonder if those future movies are right... AI will be taking US over someday... lol.

Question... Maybe we need to start another AI thread?  I'm interested in participating too... but if it's only Kathryn and me... then maybe not?  You all decide and let me know.  ;)

Or we can have a thread for things not daz or poser but for various other crafts like cross stitching, sewing, painting, knitting, etc.  That way people can show off their other pass times or interests.

Agent0013

A thread for those types of things sounds interesting. Still, I don't create these threads just for certain program renders. If you do any type of art, and you wish it to be seen here, post it, so long as it stays within the rules of the site and thread. If you have done a piece of craft art, let us see it. Cross Stitching is an art form, and so many things can be made with it, so let's see it if you are OK with showing it off. These threads are called Show Off Threads for a reason, so show off what you do!

OK with me.. As long as you don't mind AI-n-such mixed into this thread  :)

Well, concerning AI I am a bit on "both sides". I played with AI generators and was fascinated by some results. But it was programming, not me who did it. When I use DAZ Studio for an image, I can compose, choose objects etc ... but it is still a computer that renders it. When I use a pencil or water colors, draw on a piece of paper - it is me who does it.At the moment, there is a toy fair in Germany. The new trends are - you guess it - digital. E.g. a child can apply a tattoo on its arm and use a program on a mobile phone to make it "come alive" and move. I was shocked. If it continues like that, children will become even more "slaves" of technical equipment. Where is their fantasy and creativity? What will they do, when the battery/accu of their mobile phone is empty? Give them some pieces of wood, buttons, yarn ... and let them use their brain and their hands. Children have enough imagination if you let them use it.
Sorry, maybe I am just old. And my English is not good enough to express the things I think. And now, I want to show you something I made for my grandson who will be 2 years in April: a dangerous bag :-)
