Had four false starts on a modelling job I was wanting to get done in Wings3D. The latest versions seem to have a glitch that causes things I don't select to be selected, and those things are out of my work view. When I do what I selected something to work on, it does that to the unseen selections too. As it happens, I finally got what I was trying to do working right. I still have other things to do for the project, but those things will not affect what is already done, as I can lock the parts I don't want affected.
I wrote a science fiction short story about a lady that flies a star craft as part of her sales job. When she drops out of hyperspace, the ship goes to tumbling along its path in normal space, and if she is not strapped in her cockpit seat, she gets tossed around her cockpit like a ragdoll. Male companions she dates aboard her star craft suffer when that happens, and she has earned a reputation for being an evil date, even though she never intends to scare them out of their wits.
So she thought about how this happens every time, and she concludes that the star craft must be responsible for it. Of course she has only traveled hyperspace aboard her own craft, and as long as she has had that craft, it has happened every time she dropped out of hyperspace. Because of this she christened her craft as 'SS Wrinkle'. She thinks if she can finally get a big enough sale, her commission will be enough to get a new star craft, along with the trade in of her current one. She finally gets that big sale, and she can't wait to get to a sales lot to buy a new one. After making the purchase, she flies her new craft on her way to her next sales prospect.
Can you guess what happens when she drops that new craft out of hyperspace?
The modelling job I was working on is for that short story, and it is the SS Wrinkle. It has a fully modelled interior. I now have the furnishings and controls to work on, plus the exterior and interior lights, which I plan to parent linear point lights to in DAZ Studio. It will be a fully rigged model, and have several UV mapped parts, so that texture sets can be made for it. I already have textures I plan to use for it. When I get it finished I will do several images, which will depict several different occurrences in the story. Then I will create a PDF document with the images and the story, to post online for people to see and read. I expect the project to be done before Christmas of this year. Some of the images will be posted here, at Fantasies Attic, and DeviantArt for my friends to see and comment on. Of course, where possible, I will post excerpts from the story, to explain the images I post.
