July Show Off Thread 2025 - The Right to Use Free Stuff

This is a screenshot of a model I'm working on. The actual model is already complete, and very low in polygon count and file size. I still have 3 UV Maps to make for it, and then I will make texture maps using mostly photos I take of real surfaces. So the whole thing will be solely my own work. I'm arranging the parts on the UV Maps in a way that will allow one photo to fill the entire map, oriented so that all the wood grain runs in the direction it would in real life construction. There will be also stone and galvanized steel texture maps, for the roof and the stone supports.

This is my first model of a Covered Bridge, made mostly of wood. This screenshot is cropped from the full sized one in the Wings3D interface.

I'm actually making a pack that will have about four or five different styles of covered bridges in it; all UV Mapped, and textures made for them, and optimized for DAZ Studio, and possibly Poser. The pack will be offered for sale, but I can offer one or two out of it as freebies, for the Halloween or Christmas giveaway.

There is a story my Grandparents on Dad's side told on their anniversary, about getting engaged on a covered bridge. When I get this bridge working in DAZ Studio, I will be composing a scene about that. I will post the story with the image I make. So If you like stories about true love, you won't want to miss this one. It has all the right elements to bring tears of happiness to your eyes. 

My Grandparents on both sides of the family had true love in their relationships, remaining together until one or the other passed, and the remaining one never married again, content to be laid to rest with their original true love, and that is how it happened for both couples. I never learned how Mom's parents were engaged, but for Dad's parents it was a tradition to tell their story on their anniversary. I was a young child when I heard that story, and it stuck in my memory all these years.

August comes and goes... it's almost springtime

There's a reason I have not created an August thread. Because the July thread did not get much of anything the whole month. And now near the end of August I see one more image posted in the July thread.

My apologies, but if we are not getting much happening here, it begs the question "Why do the work if it is not getting responses?"

It's disheartening to say the least.

I feel the same way Agent... my August has been.. erm.. an Adventure to say the least... My father in law is now in a nursinghome :(  Mom WANTS to visit him every day and she can no longer drive.  So no liscence.. so that leaves me and hubby...and we live 45 minutes away.  Well last week hubby got sick and I am TRYING to stay healthy because I am all they ALL have!  LOL  Hopefully September will be a little less adventurous!  Stay well one and all... I plan to make one more go at a Show Off Thread, but I would like to know what You, the members would like the theme to be. My own ideas don't seem to be too popular, and besides it is for the members that I do this. So if you see this, post your suggestions in a comment here. I will read them all, and then choose one from among them or maybe just make it about all of them! Basically it could become a "Free For All" theme, meaning do your own thing!

So what to you all think of this?

For my case it has been more strugging with other things taking up time rather than the themes. I have barely touched Daz for a while as my Daz machine was without network access for a month or so after moving some stuff about in the house.

I will throw out the first topic idea: "Restarts and New Beginnings"

Hopefully it is broad enough for many interpretations and will also symbolise perhaps restarting more regular posts here also?
