lol, longer names are a problem it seems with anything computer-wise. On my Mac it will complain if there are more than 36 characters and both systems [pc/mac] complain about all caps [construed as shouting and rude] and also seem to be heavier than non-caps...it is crazy. In your case like the images Scarecrow and the Crow is bet without the spaces and ll- placed before it.

I equate the idea with even though it is a computer it was made with the frailties of a human and sometimes has issues like our own living breathing computers [our bodies], everything has a life of sorts. Enough of my weird brain now.

ll-scarecrowandcrow.zip imagine it being a zip item should be sufficient even adding a ps or ds before the .zip is plenty long. strait and to the point also makes sorting by the people in their stuff easier. When I get zips with looong names I shorten them to put them away. Images name the same way are also easier to manage and less likely to get the comps confused.

A hint to zip makes for Poser especially or Daz, not sure about that one. When naming the "parts to the goodies" like if you do a texture for a pair of boots you made. Haveing them in their original folders that the creator set up was not enough. You would think so since for example, da-gothicboot folder hold the gothbootL item.....great we know it is belonging to that folder but if anyone else in your items has a boot with the same "name" as that file then it likes to give you the texture of the other one and not the one you are using.

I still have that issue when I get an item for a furniture set and the creator calls it chair.obj, nothing wrong and bear in mind my runtimes are also like arranged.... creator/.obj for the item yet many times I need to  go to the creator and let them know that when I use their item I get another creators .obj, and that changes the look totally. So if they are nice they will update theirs to include their username or rename the obj with the product name...like chair.obj gets atticus_chair.obj or fancychair.obj. Then I get the right textures and the right chair showing up.

It means that the obj gets renamed and the path in the file gets the new name too. This doesn't happen as much as it used to in Poser 4 thru 6 but it still does. now I just go in and change the path to say the creators folder and that file and mebbe it behaves.

googness a newsletter...LOL Sorry about that

I got most of what you are saying Agent... The scarecrow picture was just a picture... not a zip.  I left it long cause I need to know what it is when it's downloaded to my SecondLife files (we don't have problems with long names in SL... the more info I have the better to keep me organized there)... I didn't want to have to change the name... Just wanted to share it.

It means when I create artworks I'm going to have to be better with my naming.  I already make sure my zips go to Llola Lane... then the Item... then Materials... etc.  So I think I'm doing that right...  I don't want to have to rename everything... It takes me soooooooooo long to make stuff as it is... I feel if it's free... beggers can't be choosers... lol

Check out my latest prezzie on the Halloween Gift page... I think the file structure is correct (fingers crossed).  As long as people can use it with no errors is my goal.

LOL I am not agent unless I got a change operation or he did to make him a she. You see, that in a way is what I wanted to say...maybe this way is more clear:  The length of the name is not letting anyone know how long it took you to make it it is just something for our own vanity, even SL doesn't really like spaces or humongous names.

make too many mistakes or issues even if free then folks will eventually avoid the item intended for use. I know if I have to fix the thing myself too many times then I will stop getting things from that person and if freebies are all then it doesn't impact the creator much....but later if they should decide to sell items...I would think really hard on spending money on what if...

None of it is really set in stone but just saying if you want to be remembered then be remembered for the right reason not as an unsure thing. :notworthy:

LOL I know you are trying otherwise I would not waste my breath. I am hoping eventually to see you sell and get some extra loot. I learned when working at the hospital to not just give info but to talk to all as if they were a child --- you know especially now how kids know comps better than us, even my 71 yr old pea size brain.

If all wish not to try then that is up to them but I have found I am also a perfectionist---YUCK. SL has eons of people so they may not police their own rules as much but trust me I know the creators there and they HATE having to fix something to work right and then word gets around.

Thank the powers that be that I'm not on Second Life. I was actually warned about the site, because it is a lot like another large Social Media Network; the difference being like you're in a virtual graphic world, leading a Second Life! Lots of bad folks on sites that are that large.

My only social networks where I enjoy discussing things are PFDlives, The Fantasies Attic, DeviantArt (large but regulated really well), and YouTube (also large but regulated really well). I don't do FaceBook, Twitter, or Google+. Blame FaceBook for my distrust of those Social Media Networks. Getting hacked on FaceBook 3 times within 6 months, each time with a freshly created account, made my say "3 Strikes and you're out!" The other networks of that type get my distrust, because I do not wish to go through that again. My policies concerning this have served me well, through the years. No serious hacks since I started playing my hand close to my vest. If they cannot find anything of value, they leave my devices alone. Had an attempted hack about 2 weeks ago, but I knew exactly what to do to stop it. Afterward, I ran my malware protection on a full scan. Not even one tiny bit of malware was found. I then ran Glary Utilities, which can catch things the other cannot. Again, nothing bad was found. This is my way of working to keep my systems free of hacks and malware. I must be doing something right to not suffer losing control or valued files.

yea there are also a lot of folks that use actual vendors things but redid for SL, yet there are many places to see and have fun, some role play but mainly having fun. like in RL there are your "can't trst them" peeps. Like here and the attic I mainly lurk about. :ghost:

I have been in SL almost 17years and yeah... I tend to stay away from the drama... I've had my share of bad stuff happen, but these days I'm a Dinkie kittie... and WHO doesn't love a Dinkie???  lol... To stick with the Halloween theme of this thread... This is me in SL in my scary bat costume that I made... are you spooked yet???  lol

eblank99

I don't seem to be successful when trying to scare people...
