Thanks Dana! I nearly missed the Birthday.

Llola Lane, All my best wishes for you on this great day of celebrating life! :spring1: <- Keep a close eye on the flowers there. If you see milkweed, let me know. Don't want anyone to get affected virtually.

Got 8 of those evil little milkweed plants growing around my home. Crazy thing is that none of the other home in the immediate area have any. It's like the milkweed is intelligent and targeting me personally. The poison has my entre left leg affected. It is inflamed, and way too sensitive to the touch. I cannot afford to go see a doctor, so I need to find a home remedy I can use. I also need some way t remove those wicked plants. I want to burn them once they are pulled up, but I don't know if that is a good thing to do, considering the type of plant it is.  And I need to get them removed ASAP, because they are in bloom, and that means they will soon be multiplying, and the problem will be a lot worse for me and my brother, as well as our neighbors.

I am allergic to milkweed, on top of the fact that it's poisonous. I am also allergic to prickly pear, which is what I thought it might be at first. This particular breed looks a lot like the prickly pear that affected me back in the 1970s. But my gardener neighbor positively identified it as milkweed. I had been affect by it too in the 1980s. This time is the worst I've ever been affected. The inflammation is all the way up my left leg, and trying to migrate to my gluteus maximus on that side, and is way too close to other regions, (not to be mentioned here).

It has made walking into a chore, that causes me pain. Bad thing is that I cannot stop my walks, as that is mostly how I get around. Gotta go about a quarter mile down the road to get a bag of ice. Not sure if I will make it..., it's a total of a half mile to walk in my condition.

Wear gloves and long sleeves and pants, then throw them into the wash right away afterward.  Bag the weeds in proper yard waste bags and get rid of them properly (your local trash and recyclable collector may take them if you don't have a landfill around).  Be sure to get them up with the roots intact, otherwise they'll grow back.

Yeah, that is what I would so like to do. Thing is my budget does not allow for buying special bags. I do have long sleeved shirts and pants, but the real problem with this particular breed is that there are tiny hairs that get airborne way too easy. That floats in the air for a very long time, winding up landing on me or stuff I have to touch. This time started on my left foot, and in 3 days, the effect had traveled all the way up my leg. As for bagging the stuff, I would need a full covering, because with all that has to be done to get those plants into a lawn bag (or equivalent thereof), It would have these little hairs floating all around me in a rather thick cloud.

If I recall correctly, the last time I was affected, the doctor said to try not being affected by the plant again. I asked him why, and he said the poison has a cumulative effect. In other words it piles up from the last time, and any other times of being affected.  If I breathe those hairs, I may not be able to recover from it. Imaging the poison entering your body through your lungs! Oh No!
