Second attempt at posting this news.
My brother and I, got T-boned by an 18 wheeler tanker that was moving at least 70 mph. I was on the side that was hit, the passenger side. It knocked the car over fifty feet from the impact site, spinning it around, and into the ditch down the road.
We are at the hospital to get checked out for injuries. I got lucky, and only suffered possible bruised ribs. At first I thought they might be cracked, but we shall see.
The intersection is a particularly bad one, with poor visibility  around the curve the trucker can from. It's a state highway with posted speed limit at 55 mph. Going 70 mph around that curve is insane. We did not see him until it was too late. We should have had plenty of time to enter the highway.

OMG... You didn't say how your bother is???

My brother is OK, but also being checked. Apologies for omitting something that important.

Quite natural, I ignore my brother too! ;) (yes, I AM just kidding!!!!)

Glad to hear you are both as well as can be expected from such a thing!

Hope everyone is as fine as possible  :hug2:

I have four images that are part of the same series. The story happens in my "Payload" series, but much later than the original tales. I am now calling that series the "IGA Payload Wrinkle Series". You may know about some of the old stories I wrote: Payload, and "A Wrinkle in Hyperspace". For the Universe in this series, Hyperspace is subject to a few unusual properties that make for interesting situations, as was indicated in the latter of the two stories named here. These images are set in the same Universe, but much farther in the future, when humanity finally began intergalactic travel. Here is the first of the four images, and its backstory.

IGA City Star Dreadnaught Near M51
The ships of the Inter-Galactic Alliance (IGA) need to be very large; indeed so large to carry as many crew and passengers as possible. To be cost effective and affordable to all citizens of the IGA, ships have been built to have a capacity for billions of citizens. No ships resemble any other, due to the size and configuration of the ship, and the whims and needs of the citizens aboard. Whole societies have developed aboard these world sized ships, with cultures based upon their travel throughout the known cosmos, plus what their main focus of purpose is.
The expense of one hyper jump is high because of the distances involved, and the amount of energy needed to make such jumps. Fortunately, it does not matter how large a ship is, the cost will be the same, as the energy needed is always the same for a given distance jump. Obviously the distances between galaxies is measured in the millions of lightyears, with the exceptions of certain galaxies that are in the process of colliding, or are small satellite galaxies orbiting larger ones. (The Magellanic Clouds are two such small galaxies orbiting the Milky Way Galaxy.) So a world sized ship can travel the same distance with the same amount of energy needed for the small ships. If there are small ships berthed aboard a "Mega City Star", Hyperspace interprets that as being one with the Mega City Star, and can travel with it via the same hyper jump. Once the Mega City Star is near a galaxy citizens wish to visit, they can take passage aboard one of the many berthed small ships to leave the Mega City Star, and hyper jump around that galaxy aboard those smaller ships. Distances within such galaxies is far less than those between galaxies. Indeed, the jumps are far cheaper, and can be afforded by all IGA citizens. As the distance of a hyper jump is reduced, the energy needed is reduced on a reverse exponential curve, to the point that ships need just a tiny amount of energy. As hyperspace does not seem concerned about what size a ship is for a jump, even the Mega City Stars can make the jump using the same amount of energy as the smallest ships for that same distance.
All ships of this size travel determined circuits through known inter-galactic space, passing near several million galaxies each. This one has dropped out of hyperspace near M51's great spiral galaxy. It is close to the most affected arm of the galaxy, which has been shaped oddly by the gravity of the farther galaxy. The collision between these two galaxies has been in progress for millions of Earth years. It is known that the effects of this ongoing collision are the cause of rampant star formation, and is quite likely the cause of multiple supernovae in these galaxies as well. (M51 is famously known as the Whirlpool Galaxy, but in reality, it is actually two large galaxies that are the main components of the collision.)
In the case of the "City Star Dreadnoughts", the culture centers around military endeavors for the purposes of defense against potential and real threats. The reason for military presence in this area is because the two main galactic components of this collision are locked in a war that has lasted for millions of years. The farther galaxy is occupied by a malevolent society bent on subjugation of the M51 area, with further goals of the same for an ever increasing amount of galaxies. The IGA must work to prevent that. Thus the City Star Dreadnoughts make regular stops here at M51. All "City Star Dreadnoughts" make regular stops at all of the areas where galaxies are in the process of colliding, for obvious reasons. Wars tend to be prevalent in many of those areas, and they tend to last millions of years. This is usually because the societies of each galaxy are quite different from each other, often opposing each other in significant ways, making war seem necessary. The IGA works to resolve such issues in peaceful ways.

IGA City Star Dreadnought - Modeled in Wings 3D 2.2.7 and Bryce 7.1 Pro, using the new Boolean TEST tool in Wings 3D, and the Boolean operations in Bryce. In Wings 3D I used another new tool called "Greebles", which adds greeble geometry to existing selected polygons to form the greeble style buildings at some of its edges. Textures were assigned in Bryce 7,1 Pro. I made the textures have full reflectivity to reflect the galaxy in the backdrop.
M51 Whirlpool Galaxy Backdrop - Created using a vertical 2D square in the Bryce 7.1 Pro Primitives Library, to which I assigned the M51 astronomical photo.
Lighting - Default Sunlight aimed through the Galaxy with intensity increased to 130%.

IGA Mega City Ship 001

When the allied species of the Milky Way Galaxy first ventured to other galaxies, the means of travel wound up being extremely expensive. A trip to the Galaxy in Andromeda in a small ship (less than 200 personel) commanded the fortunes of more than 500 very large corporations, or the equivalent. Many colony worlds and even some homeworlds did not have those kinds of resources. As technology advanced, the cost was reduced to about 1/5 the cost, but was still exorbitant. Still the reductions in cost were always followed by a boost in travel. Advances made travel possible to all galaxies within 100,000,000 lightyears; though the cost was of course greater, the further the trip.

Ways had to be devised to help reduce the travel cost to affordable for all IGA citizens.

Enter the Mega City Ships! These ships were giant structures capable of supporting citizen populations in the hundreds of millions. Along with that was the ability to berth tens of millions of small, medium, large, and even extra large ships. The Mega City Ship could transport everything for the cost of just one trip. This made booking passage affordable for all citizens of the IGA, and if you were aboard a berthed ship, the cost was effectively halved.

The ship seen here is one of the very large ones, with a population of 200,000,000, and 35,000,000 berhed ships of various sizes. It travels a circuit through intergalactic space, passing many of the member galaxies on a regular schedule. Berthed ships may make small jumps to nearby galaxies quite cheaply due to near proximity. Ships like this one made possible the growth of a robust intergalactic economy.
