There may be precedence for the way that furniture was modeled. Back when I was a child, I sometimes stayed with my grandparents for a couple of weeks, and they had beds that were very high above the floor, due to big box-springs and very thick mattresses. There was one chair in the house that was kept in the main bedroom that was like the one in your image. Even tall grown men in my family could not reach the floor with their feet while sitting in that chair. Consequently, that chair was seldom used by anybody.

A few years ago, while I was working as a furniture restorer for an antique shop, I found a place that had a whole suite of furniture designed in the same way. The chairs, couch, and sofa were all high like the one in your image. The history of that suite was that it had belonged only to one family, and when I looked up that family's history, the tallest person in it was just 5' 7" tall. I had to wonder why a family of short people would want such high furniture.

Maybe big/tall furniture was a sign of wealth and status?  Even if not usable... Back the people were big on showing off their wealth.. I suppose it's true even today.

I did a closeup render of just the cat on the back of the chair. I'm adding here by request…

The Companions

In an age long past, many fantastic creatures roamed the land. There were magical folk as well, such as Elves, Dwarves, Fairies, Pixies, Brownies, Nymphs, etc. Many of the creatures were extraordinary members of species that were common in the areas they roamed. One such was a rare Sabertooth Black Panther. 600 pounds of flesh and bone, quite ferocious and fiercely loyal to whatever companion he ran with. No one would he allow to choose his companion for him. He would choose his companion, based on unknowable senses, and would bond with that companion as quickly as he could.

This one has bonded with a female elf, who knew his intentions to bond with her before he actually chose her. The companions cannot communicate by spoken word, but they have a rapport that lets them know what each other is thinking. They run the wild lands together, seeing what they can see. doing what needs doing, and living a fairly good life on the roam.

I  managed to create a second "decay" image for Llola's Daz Edition challenge. As usual it's big enough for here. and apparently also as usual, it's dark! lol

And it's a perfect image for Halloween, too! Enjoy…

Kittehs may not be in the render, but that's because, unlike the man, they had the smarts to get the h3ll out there!

Scary fun, Simon. Kudos.
