Hey Simon.. if I zoom in... I see little circles on her brows.. lips... skin.. etc.. Is that Iray or a special makeup?  Kinda alienish looking.  Not that I don't love aliens ;)
I started another of the same girl, with different light, camera setup and lighting and saw those circle 'blemishes' and was thinking, 'what the heck ...?' then I remembered, I had used a water drops effect and it was that!

As promised, the image "Anguish" started out to be, before I ran out of time.

Loss

It's one thing to know the kingdom fell, your ancestral home reduced to ruins, your childhood friend a casualty of war. It's something else again to see the aftermath with your own eyes, decades later, when at last your protectors considered it safe enough for you to return home.

Thank you, LAdair. This one is very well done! Love the entire mood of the piece!

I started another render of the same girl, minus the water effect, with a different hair and lighting and .. being as cunning as a fox and with 20+ years IT (mainly as a SysProg) I managed, whilst I was setting up a new printer, to unplug the wrong device - not so much the old printer as the computer that was in mid-render; that sudden "it's all gone quiet .." moment when the GPU fan winds down. So I started again, different girl (still a G3F base) and different everything else!  But this time I saved the scene - just in case!

Exceptional Simon.. right down to the fine hairs on her nose.  LOL  Gonna have to get me that facial hair.

And... you've learned a VALUABLE lesson about the SAVE feature of the program... ;)

Did someone say freckles?

LAdair

Simon, it's really sad to hear you lost the scene you were working on. You know better than to not save the file. So do I. But I've lost count of the number of times I've screwed myself because I didn't save the file before doing an operation that might cause DS to crash. So I truly empathize with you.

Your renders of the freckled red-head are wonderful. I love all the freckles across the shoulders of the second image.
