I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO SAVE MY PRODUCTS AS POSER FORMATS IN DS4.6!

I POSTED THE FOLLOWING IN MY DEVIANT ART JOURNAL.

I use DAZ Studio as my main image rendering application. For backdrops I use several sources, such as royalty free images from the internet, photos that I shoot with my digital camera, and digital backdrops I make myself in Bryce and Project Dogwaffle. I also have three main modelers I use; Wings 3D is my most used one, Blender is second, and Hexagon is third. Bryce has modeling capabilities also, but most of what I create in Bryce stays in Bryce. I do my UV mapping in Wings 3D more than I do in other apps.

Recently I have been learning to use the Content Creator Tool Kit that is included with DAZ Studio, which is one step closer to my goal for creating content that can be installed into DAZ Studio and Poser. Now I know how to make Morphs for Genesis and Genesis 2 Males and Females, and have even made some slider dial morphs for other figures. I have been learning to create Shaders, but that is a memory intensive job that causes my 4 GB of RAM to get used up rather fast, and then DAZ Studio will crash.

What I need to know now is how to save my own creations in Poser formats, such as .pp2, .pz2, .cr2, etc. The reason I want to learn these things is because I want to get my products out for others to be able to use, and I want them able to be installed in both DAZ Studio and Poser. The thing is, I have done a lot of searching for tutorials concerning this, and have hit a brick wall. That is to say, with my very limited funds at this time, I cannot afford the ones that cost, especially not knowing if they will have what I need to know or not.

I understand that DAZ Studio formats, such as .ds, .dsa, .duf and so forth are not easily adapted to Poser, so most of the content I create will be in Poser formats.

I am hoping that by putting this into my journal, a friend will be able to steer me toward the info I need. Pushing buttons and exploring within DAZ Studio is a long and tedious process, that may or may not yield the knowledge I am looking for. I mean there are a lot of tools, and several menus that must be explored, and knowing what leads to what would take years to learn, and by the time I learn it the application has evolved beyond the way it was done in the older versions. That much became clear to me when I was learning to make morphs.

The tutorial I was using was for DAZ Studio 3 Advanced, but I was working in DAZ Studio 4.1 Pro. Certain things in the process had changed, as well as what some of those things were named. I had to adapt the instructions in my mind and try to figure out how they could be applied to the newer version of the app. Now that I have more content creating experience, I find that the latest versions are also different from what I did have. I am now using DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro.

So I ask anybody that is willing to please help me find the information I need, whether it is by providing a link or two, or by posting a self made tutorial. I will certainly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Poser props just need the obj SS...you import the obj into poser and save it as a prop

I recently found a purchasable tutorial that supposedly teaches how to package any content you create in DS4.5+ in Poser formats. I did not get the link to it because I could not afford it, but it covers all Poser formats that are compatible with DS and Poser.

The DAZ Studio Content Library has two main directories; the DAZ Studio Formats directory, and the Poser Formats directory. The former one is for all content that is in DAZ Studio formats, and it is where the Genesis and Genesis 2 figures, the clothing, hair, accessories, environments, etc. are found. The latter is of course for all Poser formats that can be used in DAZ Studio. In that one you will find all of the Poser figures like V3, V4, M3, M4, A3, A4, H3, H4, etc. Clothing, Poser Props, Vehicles, Architecture, and so forth can all be found in that directory as well, and they are all in Poser formats, including .cr2, .cr6, .pp2, .pz2, .fc2, .hd2, .hr2, etc.

The tutorial that I found made claims in the promo that all DS compatible Poser Formats could be packaged for export from DAZ Studio 4.5+. Yes there have been changes, and yes there are compatibility issues between DS and Poser current builds, but I don't think someone could sell a tutorial that makes such claims if they were not true. After just a few sales, the news about the validity of what is being taught would hit the internet, halting most sales, and demanding the paid money back from the merchant. Sure, "Let the buyer beware!" is a thing to be aware of, but in these days of the World Wide Web, there is also "Let the seller beware!" Any product or service that does not do what it is claiming will be found out.

Not trying to step on anyone's toes here. I'm no expert by a long shot, but from what I have found so far...

Things that make you say "Hmmm."

you got a link to that tut? as i would luv to look at it.
as ds can use poser files but not create them except for what i posted above,

As I said in my last post, I did not get the link because I could not afford to pay for it. For all I know, it might be a bunch of hooey, or it might require purchasing extra tools that allow one to do that type of thing. Either way, it is out of my reach anyway.

I would be inclined to believe what you say, Sweete, since you have far more experience with such things than I do. In fact, my experience has been fo only one set of textures I made for one of Sanbie's Texture Challenges, and it is in DAZ Studio Formats. So with the testimony here being more in line with not being able to do this in DAZ Studio, I may wind up needing help with creating Poser Formatted content. The rigging tools in DAZ Studio do exist, and those can be exported as .cr2 (a Poser format), but it seems the latest version is for creating weight mapped figures. What I am working with does not need weight mapping.

My Fairy Wings are rigid body objects that are parented to an invisible primitive, and that primitive gets parented to the "Chest Bone" of the figure I use the Wings on. Y rotation is to be the main rotation axis, but the other two axes will be used with greater limits. I am able to use the Parameters tab to set those limits. I want the Y rotation limit at 90 degrees, The X axis range at about -15 degrees to +15 degrees, and the Z axis range at -10 degrees to + 30 degrees for the top wings and -30 degrees to +10 degrees for the bottom wings. All this must be for the side these setting work best for, with the opposite side mirroring those settings.

I can probably find some tutorials that tell how to create content for DAZ Studio formats, but for Poser Formats, I guess I have to say I am up in arms. If I can get Poser 9 through a commission deal I am trying to land, maybe I can eventually learn to create Poser Formatted Content. It just seems that my goals are constantly trying to get away from me, but if I can get the wings exported in .cr2 format, they at least can be used in Poser.
