Welcome to The Big Picture August 2024 - Displacement Fun
This competition is about using displacement heightmaps to give your textures depth. In your images you must have displacement active in at least one texture.
Image size limits:
1500 px to 3000 px in either direction.
The other direction can be less than 1500 px, but no more than 3000 px.
Memory size must be within the limits set by our server host. That size is posted here somewhere.
Keep your images PG, as kids can and do view these threads.
Here is my first image for this thread:
Highliner Space Fold Ship
In Frank Herbert's "DUNE" series, the vastness of space is traversed aboard giant ships. The Navigator is the one that folds space, moving the ship without moving it!

Sorry for getting to this so very, very late :( I hope this image counts because it's 23:51 so less than 10 minutes left of the month and this was all I could come up with.

For the Snowman I used sphere-primatives with a snow texture and then custom displacement maps for the face, indented button-holes and legs. The eyes and buttons were similar but using a coal texture on some sphere-primatives with a custom displacement map to make them a bit more irregular. The Carrot-nose, hat and Twig-arms are all standard props.

The children's footprints were from a bought product but I did make the puppy's ones since there wasn't a suitable stock one. Technically they do have displacement maps applied but not sure those count since they are applied using iray decals which don't really indent the floor plane (unless I just applied them wrong)

SofaCitizen, your image is great, and does fit the challenge. Thank you for posting it.

Looks like there's just 2 images for this one. Not sure how this will be handled. We shall see.
