If they do then that is wonderful.
As for the other thing about adding the announcement or making it sticky, you (Llola)should be able to do that in your area as long as it is the first post. Editing you should be able to do so also.

Last Sculpture
After many, many long decades of updating and maintaining her stone garden, the Lady Medusa had decided to retire with a finale sculpture of her self.

Ha.. go to bed and wake up and WHAT a surprise!!! Our challenge is in full swing... ha.. and to boot... My screen colors changed when I reset my page.. lol. Not sure I'm happy with the color scheme... Seems like the one I was using is gone now... lol. Someone is playing with the buttons!!!
Anyway... Everyone seems to be getting into the theme this year... January is STONE and some great artwork is posted already...
Wizzard... Fierce stone there... It looks even better full size... I hope peeps click on it... WOW... not gonna mess with him. ;) Well done!

I sent a notice about it. I said that some of the themes were not working right and they got removed. There is a theme changer to the left in the blocks or use profile to change it to another.
What one did you use to use?

Nicely done Aelin. That rock in back of the pigs looks like it has eye holes and something in it's mouth. Not sure I would turn my back on that rock, just in case it has a taste for pork.

Very nice eblank99, I was wondering when the stone pond would show up, the frog is a nice touch. Did you know if a that is a female frog and is kissed by a handsome prince the frog will change into a stone statue of Venus de Milo and the prince will grow warts.

Differences
You are soft and squishy.
You are so metallic, and if you want to keep those fingers I suggest you move them no closer to the soft and squishy parts.

Llola, this is a great idea. Hoping people will make this a success. I don't have a render ready yet for the "January Stone" one, so will get right on it.
Edit: Looks like I missed the January one already, although I still want to do one.
The February one being metal is more or less right up my alley, as I am into Science Fiction big time! So I will get on doing one for Metal ASAP.

Hi Gang... I was able to finish my artwork tonight whilst I ate dinner... This was done with Iray. I love how it made the metal gears look rusty and old. Luckily there's Rosie (the Riveter?) around to help keep them moving!

Thanks Dee... I got the old gears a loooooooong time ago at Rendo... I modernized them up a bit with Genesis8!
And I agree with Dee, eblank... The robutz do need oil.. or... will they be so advanced in the future they won't? Only time will tell. Thanks for sharing and joining the challenge.

Oooh, look, I have M4's tin man
His heart is broken
Must have Emerald City
And so a simple statue becomes a story because I can't leave well enough alone.

I recreated a 4GB render I tried on my old system and gave up after 4 hours rendering and only 30% complete. My knew system completed the render in under 45 minutes almost all others are under 20 minutes. And yes I am braggin.

Ooo.. I'd love to see it Dee... and yes... I've been re-rendering older stuff too. I'm curious to see if there is a difference. I re-rendered one that took 2hours on old computer... It was 2minutes on new. I blinked and it was done.. lol. No difference btw. I did 3 renders yesterday... At this rate my new hard drive will be full in no time... lol. Good luck getting everything over to the new computer. I was lucky the guys were able to save my old hard drive stuff over to the new computer. Saved me months of transfering ;)

Incidentally, to give CyberD fur I used a Genesis Supersuit Shader. It has settings that let you decide the length of the fur, but does not actually tell you which parameter does that. The actual length control is named something else, and I cannot recall what it is. I tested the controls until I found the ones I wanted. As for the different lengths of fur, I chose that to show that the Cyber Dog has not yet perfected producing fur for itself.

Pretty much the way the aniblock pans out, though it does some weird stuff right at the end (just off camera!) where it slows and prances in place for around 15 or so frames

Welcome to the Oaken Valley parade, and here we go turning onto Oak Lane our grand marshal Ms. Cedar Pine and her companions. You can tell by their wardrobe or lack of, this parade will end at the forest pond. There will be a bring a dish pot luck for all, games, entertainment and the swimming hole will be available for use ( sorry no skinny dipping today).

I got them at Sketchfab, Llola. There are 13 of them and they're free, but you have to import them from fbx format. And the texture I used was just a newspaper page I downloaded.

The golden apple comes from the stories of Greek Myth and Legend, in which the hundred eyed giant guardian was lulled to sleep with all his eyes closed by Hermes who had invented the Lyre and used music he played on it to do so. That was so that he (Hermes) could steal a golden apple from the tree of life. You can find several versions of the story online.

You know, when Zeus put the princess under the shape of a cow to hide she from Hera. But Hera wasn't stupid and understood and forced Zeus to offer to her the cow.
Argos became the keeper of Io, until Hermes found a way to make him sleep, and killed him like that. For Io, after months, she finally was able to be back to her human shape, and she had a son. That son had between his descendants (few generations after) the Danaids and their cousins; one Danaid and her husband had a son, who is the grandfather or great grandfather to Perseus. And Perseus is the ancester to Heracles of 3 or 4 generations.
Concerning the Golden Apples, Heracles found help with Atlas, you know, the giant who had the sky on his shoulders. Atlas being the father of the Hesperids was able to have the apples without problems... but asked to Heracles to take the sky for a moment. And finally Heracles was able to take him back the sky: kind of story of the most idiot between them both :tearlaugh:

You can tell that it's a pumpkin cookie jar though, right? I found out what was wrong with the 3dl render. I went to check and see if I could maybe tweak the glossiness or something. Somehow, I'd set the refraction index unbelievably low. Once I brought it up to where it belongs, it looks fine.

I wish I remember the name of the Greek authors with the myth. But each time we have the myth in Europe, Argos is killed once and for all by Hermes (pretty cool baby, inventing the lyre in his first days, isn't it? :tearlaugh: ). The peacock comes in the story because it's the favorite bird of Hera, and to don't forget Argos, she put his eyes on the feathers of the peacock.
According the Zeus behavior in all times, a reward for that Argos was out of question. (I don't remember the number of different Argos, but there was 5 or 6 in all mythology in Greece, with at least 1 son of Zeus. Even, a version of the legend made from the Argos you talked about a cousin of Io; weird eyes for an human in that case :yikes: )
When I did old Greek in High School, I wasn't so good in the language. But for myths, I even knew by heart the genealogies and myths coming with. And in fact, when you look them at the beginning, you find all time the rivers like ancesters, or (like with Deucalion and Pyrrha) the giants cousins of gods. Not counting the interventions of gods in human royale families :overreactionallert:
Anyway, genealogies help to follow a little better the order of myths... until you arrive to the Argonauts, and the Calydon hunting. There, the order isn't well defined.
But a thing is sure: in French, it's simply acted there was one flood, at the time of Deucalion and Pyrrha. But when you see genealogies from other families, there were living at the same time, with no flood. And finally, I think it was in the Pierre Grimal dictionnary, he quotes a text talking about 4 or 5 floods. Not just one. And the D & P flood was only in their area with that list. A contradiction that most of french authors don't want to see.
I still have my old notebook where I made only entries with X, infant of Y and Z, parent of.... And with mixed genealogies it was usefull :tearlaugh: I counted by game the children of Zeus and Poseidon at that time, and there was a lot from what I remember!

Yeah, Zeus was unfaithful to Hera, seeking out and laying with beautiful women. Heracles and Perseus were his sons by different human women.
In the story of Jason and the Argonauts, the ship they sailed aboard was named Argos, after one of the giants having the same name. I think Heracles was one of the crew of that ship.
There are thousands of small Islands mostly east and southeast of Greece. The Greeks sailed that area a lot, even with all the storms that Poseidon sent to hinder such vessels. The story mentioned here is most likely inspired by the difficulty of sailing in that area. Another that sailed the area as well was Oddyseus; whose journey supposedly lasted 20 years, during which time he fought in the Trojan War. He had trials and troubles trying to return home, that delayed that return greatly. Had he sailed within site of the mainland, after sailing west from Troy and followed that land on around to his homeland, his time away from his wife could have been greatly reduced in duration. But the story had to have him returning after 20 years away from home. Things on the homefront had to be set up for his return. Penelope devised many ways to delay having to marry one of the men competing for her hand. Her last one was that she would only marry the man that could string the bow of Oddyseus, and shoot an arrow through several loops in axe handles, all lined up for a straight shot. Only Oddyseus could do it, and while in disguise, he competed in that particular contest, winning because he was who he was. When he threw off his diguise, he shot all the other men with his bow. Then he went to Penelope and rejoined her after all that time.
Of all the Myths and Legends from that time, The Oddysey is my favorite, because it is about being faithful to your spouse. That's the way true love is supposed to be. Of course, Penelope was the faithful wife, but Oddyseus laid with Callisto, who wanted him to stay with her. But always in his mind was his desire to return home to his beloved wife and son.

In fact there are antic authors telling the ship was about the giant. Otehrs telling it was from the guy creating the ship, and which was in the 50 (or more than 50) team. There too the number is none really define, because except for Jason and few other heroes, no one author agreed with his neighbor :tearlaugh:
Concerning Odysseus (I never really understoof why we call him Ulysse in French :Duh: ), there are plenty possibilities for his journey if you listen authors, from Antiquity to nowadays. I think with them all he has done all the seas of the world :tearlaugh:
Between Calypso and Circé (Circea in English?), Oddyseus lost several years for sure.
And funny that you are talking about Odysseus. I'm thinking suddenly. Do you know the name of the old dog who recognize him when he is back at home? Argos.
And of course antic authors continued the story of Odysseus once he was back. Either running temporarily somewhere else to make an offer to Poseidon for teh peace. Or staying in his island, then one day fighting and being killed by a young guy... which was supposed to be the son he had with Circé. And that son felt in love with Penelope.
Maybe Greeks are the creators of soap operas finally :tearlaugh:

I forgot two things ...!
1) whilst it was not inspired by the lyrics of a song, it did, kind of fit the feelings of it:

Hubby and I went on a submarine ride in Hawaii... maaaaaany years ago... Kept thinking of the glass bottom boats but couldn't find one in my runtime so settled for this submarine. It was an awesome experience being submerged with the fishes... I took lots of pictures but they turned out really dark. :(

I'll bet there are some old bubbleheads around that would love to have had a sub like that. Very well down.
Pictures come our dark if you don't have a filter that compensates for the water refraction and glass refraction. They also come out dark if you try to use a flash. Plus the flash really ticks off the sharks.

Yeah... I don't use flash... that means I have to hold the camera reeeeeeeeally still. I used the glass as a tripod... I've gotta look and see if I can find the pictures. Old school technology camera was top of the line back when... lol. My phone now could take better pictures... but.. even though they are dark they do remind me of a great trip (sighs). ;)

Leatherclad Warrior on the Mountaintop
Upon him is a darkness that mirrors what he has in his heart, and upon his face is the countenence of dark purpose, born of the need to exact justice for those taken from him in battle. Thus with his cleaving blade, he has trekked to the mountaintop, where he can look down upon the village where his quarry has gone to hiding. He knows that the village is one of very few places of refuge to be found in these mountains, and it is the nearest to where the battle was fought. The quarry most certainly knew of the village as well, as he was a skilled warrior and journeyman, like himself. It was because the enemy chose to fight by killing the families of his enemies that he was being hunted. And in this case, the family that had been murdered was that of the man now hunting the perpetrator down.
I grabbed most of the current Genesis 2 Weekly Freebies at DAZ, and decided to use the male figure and hair to render a warrior. I used an outfit I already had for G2M, which is mostly leather. Thought I would make this my entry for October in Llolas Render A Month Thread. Had to reduce the image size to get it to upload here.

The alien invasion has not been that bad. Three or four aliens head for a town. The people are evacuated before they arrive. When the aliens get to town they are met with a missile attack of fire and brim stone. The engineer corps rebuild the town better than it was and the people move back in. The only bad part is before the rebuilding all the alien remains must be cleared. Want to guess who that job belongs to.
